and this is only thinking for a minute or two. I tend to think effort into it is what gets benefits out. it's fun but again not sure it helps a whole lot. I guess this kind of "training" can't be done without a computer. If it drops a significant amount then I take it back and think again and try again etc. I'll take a curious position and think on it for no more than a minute or two while the computer thinks, then I play my move and see if the eval drops at least half a pawn. I'm not sure how much it helps, but it's fun to test my intuition with a computer though. With or without a computer you'll have to do work in your analysis either way if you want any benefit. Training with it can be useful, but you have to fill in all the blanks for yourself. But the computer is of course very accurate within that window. Even children can effortlessly make decisions with more depth, it's pretty interesting actually. of course anything beyond that is simply invisible to it. Computers can help validate your ideas by checking them 15-20 moves in advance fairly reliably.
